A: That is a great question and the one I say is actually asked the most. Unfortunately, the answer is not so simple. In order to know how much to charge (Your Price) you must first understand (Your True Costs). Your costs go far beyond your material and labor costs. There are multiple things to consider when calculating your costs. There is of course labor time and material, however there are also costs for overhead, employee benefits and taxes. There are also general conditions to consider, like tool rental, time for clean-up, crew sizes and efficiencies. Then, unless you like risk without reward. there's that little thing called profit. In "The Secrets To Successful Contracting" Part 3 - Making Money is No Accident - I'll walk you through exactly how to calculate all of your true cost, then you will understand what you need to charge and why. Believe me there is no faster way to failure then to guess at this stuff. Even if you choose not to learn this from me, I strongly advise you go over this with your accountant.
